Legal Aid International
Legal Aid International is a non-governmental organisation with significant community-based grassroots initiatives. The Legal Aid International develops human rights capacities within communities where it works so as to ensure social progress and development through the instrumentation of law, justice, development and good governance.
The Legal Aid International also links community concerns to national level policy institutions to ensure that decisions take into consideration less privileged populations within Ghana. The core elements of the Legal Aid International’s work are three-fold:
- Build Human Rights within Communities
- Influence National and Local Policy Institutions
- Bridge Community Concerns with National Policy Decision-making
Legal Aid International’s activities are carried out across the full gamut of human rights including:
- Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
- Civil and Political Rights and
- Rights as are related to Human Development

What do we do?
Our Mission, Values and Motto
At the Legal AId Internatiional, we seek to ensure human rights for all. We work towards the promotion and protection of the rights to Health, Education, Housing, Work, Participatory Democracy, Personal Liberty and Criminal/Civil justice.
These are carried out through public human rights education, community mobilization activities, legal aid, alternative dispute resolution services, action research, advocacy and publication.
Central to the Legal AId Internatiional’s work are the campaigns and projects for the promotion and protection of human rights through innovative community mobilization strategies, public interactive human rights education, lawyering techniques and research and advocacy at the local, national and international levels.
